Mark 15:34: Did God Forsake Jesus?

JP Staff Writer 1996Jan01 Readers’ Perspective Leave a Comment

I’ve been thinking about Psalm 22 lately and wondering if our Savior wasn’t perhaps giving one final teaching even from the cross. His cry of “My God, my God! Why have you forsaken me?” couldn’t be the voice of a despairing man.

Does it matter which of the Gospel writers wrote first?

JP Staff Writer 1996Jan01 Readers’ Perspective 1 Comment

Papias said Matthew wrote first. Someone else said Mark wrote first. Lindsey said Luke wrote first. Does it matter? Why can’t we just accept that the four gospel writers were four independent individual persons used by God to write one complete Gospel?

What’s Wrong with John 21:7?

Mendel Nun [1918-2010] 1995Jul01 Blog, Readers’ Perspective Leave a Comment

There seems to be a problem with John 21:7. The text states that Peter was naked. Did good Jews in that time ever go out fully naked?

David N. Bivin 1992Mar01 Blog, Readers’ Perspective Leave a Comment

“Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together” (Luke 17:37; KJV), is certainly one of the most enigmatic of Jesus’ sayings.

Shmuel Safrai [1919-2003] 1991Nov01 Blog, Readers’ Perspective 3 Comments

The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus: Did the Rich Man End Up in Hell or Gehenna? (Luke 16:22)

David N. Bivin 1991Nov01 Blog, Readers’ Perspective 1 Comment

Mechanically reconstructing to Hebrew Greek texts found in Matthew, Mark and Luke on the basis of Septuagintal equivalents can widely miss the mark.

Why does Jerusalem Perspective use the Greek name “Jesus” instead of “Y’shua” or “Yeshua”?

David N. Bivin 1991Jan01 About JP, Blog, FAQs, Readers’ Perspective Leave a Comment

We use the spelling “Jesus” simply because that’s the way the name is written in English.

Why does Jerusalem Perspective avoid using the term “Old Testament”?

JP Staff Writer 1990Mar01 About JP, FAQs, Readers’ Perspective Leave a Comment

It is not just in deference to Jewish sensitivities that we avoid “Old Testament,” but because we feel that for the Christian as well the term misrepresents the document.
