The ancient Jewish sage Rabban Gamliel is mentioned not only in rabbinic literature, but also twice in the New Testament. Marc Turnage introduces us to this important figure in the history of Judaism and Christianity.

The ancient Jewish sage Rabban Gamliel is mentioned not only in rabbinic literature, but also twice in the New Testament. In Acts 5:34-39 Gamliel (or “Gamaliel”) speaks out in the Sanhedrin on behalf of the early followers of Jesus, while in Acts 22:3 the Apostle Paul mentions that he was at one time a student of Gamliel.
