Joshua N. Tilton

Joshua N. Tilton grew up in St. George, a small town on the coast of Maine. For his undergraduate degree he studied at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, where he earned a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies (2002). There he studied Biblical Hebrew and Modern Jewish Studies under Dr. Marvin R. Wilson, who encouraged Joshua to spend a semester studying abroad in Israel. In Israel Joshua spent the spring semester of 2001 at Jerusalem University College, where he studied under Dr. Randall Buth and Dr. R. Steven Notley. It was during that semester that Joshua was introduced to the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research and became aware of Jerusalem Perspective.

After completing his undergraduate degree, Joshua continued his studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, where he obtained a Master of Divinity degree in 2005. While at Gordon-Conwell Joshua had the opportunity to study Biblical Hebrew at Harvard Divinity School. After seminary Joshua returned to Israel with his wife, Lauren S. Asperschlager, where they both studied at the Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Both Joshua and Lauren completed their M.A. in Religious Studies in 2007.

In 2013 Jerusalem Perspective published Joshua’s first e-book: Jesus’ Gospel: Searching for the Core of Jesus’ Message. In that same year Joshua and Lauren began their collaboration with David Bivin on the Life of Yeshua (LOY) project. Articles that are part of the LOY project on which Joshua has collaborated can viewed here.
