Dr. W. R. (William Richard) Stegner (1930-2003) was professor of New Testament at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. In 1985-1986 Stegner served as president of the Chicago Society of Biblical Research. The author of numerous articles and editor of collections of essays, his Narrative Theology in Early Jewish Christianity (Louisville, Ky.: Westminster/J. Knox Press, 1989) is among his most important publications.
