Serge Ruzer

Serge Ruzer is a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he teaches in the Department of Comparative Religion. He has authored numerous articles and books on the Jewish background of the New Testament. Among the most important of these are Mapping the New Testament: Early Christian Writings as a Witness for Jewish Biblical Exegesis (Leiden: Brill, 2007) and Early Jewish Messianism in the New Testament: Reflections in the Dim Mirror (Leiden: Brill, 2020). Serge Ruzer also edited two volumes of collected Hebrew essays by David Flusser entitled Judaism of the Second Temple Period (Jerusalem: Magnes, 2002), which have now appeared in English translation as Judaism of the Second Temple Period, jointly published in two volumes in 2007-2009 by Eerdmans, Magnes Press and Jerusalem Perspective.
