Originally trained in ceramics, Janet earned degrees from the University of Tulsa (MA) and Rhode Island School of Design (MFA). In Jerusalem, Israel, she worked as a resident artist in the ceramics department of the Bezalel Art Institute.
Janet then began figurative drawing and painting at Israel Hirshberg’s Jerusalem Studio School. She furthered her training at the Art Students League in New York City, where she received a Fantasy Fountain Fund travel grant. She used the grant money to visit Paris and paint landscapes. She currently resides in College Park, MD, with her husband of many years and their cat Tobias.
