Chana Safrai (1946–2008) was a member of the faculty of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. She received her M.A. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her Ph.D. in Judaics from the Catholic Theological University. A member of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Research, she was also a member of the Jewish-Christian Relations Research Center. Safrai wrote numerous scholarly articles and co-authored with Samuel Belkin The Midrash of Philo (Jerusalem: Ktav, 1989) [in Hebrew].
